Israel’s national defense minister says he will build synagogue on the Temple Mount
Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said he will build a synagogue at Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque to give equal rights to Jews and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected Ben-Gvir’s remarks, stressing that “there has been no change in the status quo on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.”
The Noble Sanctuary in the Old City of Jerusalem is considered the third holiest place for Muslims. Until 1967, Jews did not have the right to ascend to the holy place. Now, members of all religious denominations are allowed to visit it, but only Muslims are allowed to pray there. Muslims, media reported Monday.
